Elections2022: UNITA reiterates value of republican state

Luanda – The presidential candidate of UNITA, Adalberto Costa Júnior, this Friday during the ten-minute airtime on the public radio (RNA) reiterated his party’s project of implementing in Angola a republican state in the next five years, if the largest opposition party wins this August 24th elections.

According to the politician, speaking in the ambit of the official electoral campaign, the focus of such political aim is on the National Police (PN) and the Armed Forces (FAA).

He said UNITA’s programme outlines the need to make government officials accountable for their actions and to teach the people how to live in respect for difference.

“UNITA calls for alternance, not exactly to govern its militants, but to govern the Angolan people”, Costa Junior said.

A republican state, he went on to explain, is one in which common good is above particular interests of classes, groups, corporations ou families.

He reiterated UNITA’s intention to form an inclusive and participatory government, plus the promotion of state reforms.

These will be the fifth elections in Angola, but the first in which Angolans living abroad will vote.
