Luanda:Financial literacy deficits and the necessity for ongoing staff training are among the primary challenges faced by the Angolan banking system in addressing market demands and enhancing customer service, as highlighted by the consulting firm MFX.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Éric Agostinho da Costa, president of the consulting firm Matematica Financeira Group (MFX), stated that an assessment of the national financial sector indicates a significant weakness in the understanding of banking products and services, both among users and professionals with extensive experience in banking institutions.
Éric da Costa noted during the first edition of the event "MFX The challenges of national banking" that professionals with over a decade of service in the financial sector often struggle to identify the best credit products for clients, due to a reliance on traditional and mechanized work models. He emphasized that a lack of knowledge in financial mathematics and management literacy is a major challenge, prompting MFX to promote solutions focused on savings, investment, and corporate training.
The event aims to bring together administrators and decision-makers from the national financial system to enhance client trust and improve banking efficiency standards. Éric da Costa announced that the next edition of the event is planned for the first quarter of next year, featuring sector-specific meetings for banking, insurance, and capital markets.
In addition, MFX's Marketing Director, Romero Henriques, introduced an initiative called "Next Gen," designed to prepare university students for the job market. This project involves a digital platform for simulated economics, allowing students to engage in real market dynamics over 90 days, including practical exercises on Initial Public Offering (IPO) processes.
Henriques highlighted the market's need for capable professionals, which he believes is achievable through strong collaboration between academia and the productive sector. MFX, founded by academics from the Catholic University of Angola (UCAN), has been operating in the national market for about four years, focusing on financial consulting and training.
