Geneva: FIND (www.FINDdx.org) convened a meeting with Ambassadors from 26 African countries and the African Union at its Global Health Campus office. The gathering aimed to provide an overview of FIND's work, discuss future prospects, and underscore FIND's role as a valuable partner in enhancing diagnostics in these nations. According to African Press Organization, FIND's CEO Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa emphasized the critical role of diagnostics in effective health responses, from early detection to pandemic preparedness. The collaboration with the African Union is vital to ensure inclusivity in health services, especially in low- and middle-income countries. FIND's leadership presented an updated strategic vision to improve diagnostic systems in anticipation of health and pandemic risks. This presentation served as a precursor to the upcoming Diagnostics Day event on 21 May, coinciding with the World Health Assembly. Key outcomes of the meeting included a commitment to bolster regional manufacturing of diagnosti cs and health technologies. There was also a consensus to enhance AU-FIND cooperation to align with country and Africa CDCs diagnostic priorities. Additionally, there was support for FIND's role as a technical partner to extend access to essential diagnostics for diseases like HIV, TB, malaria, mpox, and emerging outbreaks. Diagnostics were recognized as a crucial element of health security and universal health coverage. Dr. Ayoade Alakija, FIND's Board Chair, highlighted the leadership role of African countries in addressing health challenges amidst global turmoil. FIND remains committed to supporting these nations in strengthening pandemic preparedness and ensuring the availability of quality diagnostics. FIND's Diagnostics Day event on 21 May at the Vieux Bois in Geneva will gather global health leaders to discuss steps toward ensuring accessible and quality diagnostics for all.
