Fixed-term workers switch to civil servants

Luanda – Angolan government approved Wednesday the Presidential Decree that establishes the integration of the workers under fixed term employment into a permanent contract of Civil Service.

This was during the 2nd Ordinary Session of the Cabinet Council held on Wednesday in Luanda, under the guidance of the President of Republic João Lourenço.

The measure covers 7,200 administrative agents, both from central (direct and indirect) and local administration from the country’s 18 provinces.

The group is registered in the Integrated Financial Management System (SIGF), with a budgetary impact estimated at AKz 740 million, an amount used to be paid outside the remuneration heading.

According to the minister of Public Administration, Work and Social Security (MAPTSS), Teresa Dias, the approval of the document stems from the Civil Service Basic Law 26/22, of August 22, which in one of its articles upholds their integration into public service, within a period of six months.

Teresa Dias said this is a long-awaited measure. The regularisation of the Civil Service was an exception, recalling that the method for the admission must always be through public tenders. NE/VM/ADR
