Foreign Minister to Represent President Joo Lourenço at Vila Nova’s Inauguration

Angola: Angolan Foreign Minister Téte António will represent Head of State Joo Lourenço at the inauguration ceremony of the re-elected President of So Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, scheduled for this Thursday in the country's capital. According to Angola Press News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), Téte António arrived in So Tomé early Wednesday evening to attend the formal event on behalf of the Angolan Head of State. Upon his arrival at Nuno Xavier Dias International Airport, the Angolan foreign minister was welcomed by Paulo Jorge do Espírito Santo, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities of So Tomé and Príncipe, and by Fidelino de Jesus Florentino Peliganga, Angola's ambassador to the country. Téte António's participation in the ceremony reflects the historic ties of friendship, fraternity, solidarity, and cooperation between Angola and So Tomé and Príncipe. Carlos Vila Nova was elected President of So Tomé and Príncipe wit h 55.88% of the vote in the first round of elections held on July 19. The two countries maintain bilateral relations rooted in deep historical and cultural ties and the closeness of their peoples, sharing common values and interests within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), the African Union, and other regional and international consultation mechanisms. Bilateral cooperation spans various areas of mutual interest, notably the political-diplomatic, economic, business, technical, and cultural sectors, as well as professional training. Angola and So Tomé and Príncipe reiterate their commitment to exploring new cooperation opportunities for the benefit of sustainable development and the well-being of both peoples.
