Luanda: Angola and Mauritius have initiated discussions to collaborate on Angola's electricity sector, with an emphasis on securing funding and forming strategic partnerships to support critical projects within the country. This development was confirmed during a meeting between Angola's Minister of Energy and Water, Joo Baptista Borges, and Mauritius's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Ritish Ramful, in Luanda.
According to Angola Press News Agency, a press release from the Ministry of Energy and Water, issued on Wednesday, detailed the goals of the meeting. The discussions focused on forming strategic partnerships, facilitating engagement with financial institutions, and attracting investments to bolster Angola's energy sector.
During the meeting, Minister Borges outlined the key priorities for the sector, which include the expansion of rural electrification through sustainable methods and enhancing electricity generation and distribution capabilities to accommodate the country's growing population.
Both nations agreed to strengthen institutional ties, promote technical exchanges, and encourage working visits between specialists from Angola and Mauritius. This initiative marks another step in the ongoing efforts to fortify diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries, particularly in the energy, trade, and extractive industries sectors.
