Former Angolan Minister of Justice Paulo Tjipilica Passes Away at 86

Luanda: Former Angolan Minister of Justice Paulo Tjipilica died on Monday at a private clinic in Luanda, at the age of 86, from an illness. Paulo Tjipilica served as Minister of Justice for 12 years in the government of Jos© Eduardo dos Santos and was Angola's first Ombudsman, a position he held for 13 years.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Deputy Ombudsman Aguinaldo Crist³vo expressed sorrow over the death of Paulo Tjipilica, acknowledging the significant legacy he left to Angolan society. Crist³vo highlighted Tjipilica's contributions to defending the rights of the most disadvantaged, especially focusing on land issues, and praised his pioneering role as the country's first Ombudsman.

Born on December 21, 1939, Paulo Tjipilica was a lawyer by profession. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Cl¡ssica Lisboa in 1976, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in public service and law.
