Former companions highlight ex-President’s achievements

Luanda – Former companions of the ex-President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, as a sportsman, on Friday in Luanda, praised his commitment for the development of sports in Angola.

Reacting to the death of the former Head of State, this Friday, at the age of 79, due to illness in Spain, they described him as responsible for the construction of infrastructures and organisation of international events.

The coach Daniel Miguel Cata, who shared the team of Futebol Clube de Luanda, with José Eduardo dos Santos, from 1952, told ANGOP that as an athlete he always showed qualities of a born sportsman.

“The former President José Eduardo dos Santos was always a man concerned with football and sport in general. He always treated everyone in a humble way, even after becoming president”, he recalled.

Former national coach Domingos Inguila, who was also a friend and colleague of the former Head of State, considers it a great loss for the country, adding that he gave all his knowledge for the common good.
