Former President of Padepa Political Party Dies in Luanda

Luanda: The former president and founder of the Democratic Support and Progress Party of Angola (Padepa), Carlos Alberto de Andrade Leito, died Tuesday in Luanda, after a long illness.

According to Angola Press News Agency, family sources and former party members confirmed that Carlos Leito died at his residence. A native of Luanda and 57 years old, the deceased leaves behind a widow and three children.

Carlos Leito was elected the first president of Padepa at the organization's congress, held between August 15 and 16, 2005. Padepa participated in the 2008 legislative elections, but did not elect any deputies.
