Future of the World Lies in Africa, Says AU Commission Chair

Luanda: The African Union Commission (AUC) Chair, Mohamoud Ali Youssouf, emphasized the pivotal role of the African continent in the global future during the opening of the 8th Business Forum, part of the 7th African Union-European Union Summit. Youssouf pointed out the vast potential of Africa's natural resources as a key factor in shaping the future of the world. According to Angola Press News Agency, Youssouf highlighted the importance of the Global Gateway initiative as a cornerstone for enhancing the partnership between Africa and Europe. He stressed the need for increased involvement of European companies and investors in Africa to maximize this partnership's potential. Addressing the issue of Africa's debt burden, Youssouf noted that African nations have taken a unified stance on debt sustainability, urging that their position be acknowledged. He identified debt sustainability as a crucial aspect for the future economic stability of African countries, while also pointing out the disparity in investme nt capabilities, particularly in technology sectors like Artificial Intelligence, where China has made significant financial commitments. Youssouf called for support from the European Union to aid Africa in developing and investing in vital sectors. He confidently asserted Africa's future role as a powerhouse for global growth. The forum, attended by over 600 participants including business leaders, investors, and government representatives from both continents, aims to boost economic cooperation and investment, explore opportunities, and identify actionable outcomes to enhance financing. The two-day event features discussions on financing, digital connectivity, transport, and logistics.
