Fada N'Gourma: The Governor of the Eastern Region, Ram Joseph Kafando, chaired a meeting on June 16, 2025, focused on preparing for the 2025 reforestation campaign. The region has committed to planting 500,000 seedlings on June 21, 2025, during the patriotic hour to green Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Burkina Faso's top authorities have introduced several innovations for the 2025 reforestation campaign to enhance its effectiveness. Governor Kafando called upon the region's stakeholders to attend a preparatory and information session, where Water and Forestry technicians explained these new strategies.

Regional Director of Water and Forests, Lieutenant-Colonel Romuald Emmanuel Niki©ma, revealed the Eastern region's goal of planting 500,000 trees during the nationwide patriotic hour on June 21, 2025. He advised that each technical service should plant trees at their workplace, and citizens are encouraged to plant between 1 to 10 trees at home.

Lieutenant-Colonel Niki©ma also announced the plan to establish a medicinal plant grove in each of the region's five provinces. The objective is to utilize traditional pharmacopoeia to benefit community health. Additionally, the establishment of five school groves aims to provide environmental education and support school canteens.

He noted that the Eastern Regional Directorate of Water and Forests, with help from associations and partners, will supply seedlings to vulnerable populations to ensure the campaign's success.

A digital platform is planned to track the number of seedlings planted during the patriotic hour, ensuring accountability and progress monitoring. Governor Kafando highlighted the importance of not just planting but maintaining the seedlings to improve their survival rates, inviting citizens to participate in the patriotic hour on June 21, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
