Luanda: Special economic zones in Africa are essential to the continent's economic development process, said the Secretary of State for Trade and Services, Augusta Fortes, Wednesday in Luanda. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Africa Sustainable Investment Summit (ASIS), Augusta Fortes stressed the importance of making special economic zones engines of sustainable investment, African industrialization, and regional integration. According to Angola Press News Agency, Augusta Fortes emphasized that the Africa Sustainable Investment Summit, which Angola is hosting, comes at a time of global economic redefinition. The summit serves as a platform for the continent to reaffirm its role as a new axis of growth, innovation, and sustainability. "Special economic zones assume a central importance in this process, as privileged platforms for industrial transformation, where public policies, private investment, and technological innovation converge to create value and generate employment," she stated. The offici al highlighted that promoting sustainable investments in special economic zones extends beyond merely attracting capital. It also involves the creation of integrated economic ecosystems. The Sustainable Investment Summit in Africa, concluding on Friday, initiates a three-day journey focused on cooperation and strategic dialogue. The meeting also anticipates the holding on Thursday of the 10th Annual Meeting of the Organization of African Special Economic Zones.
