Governor Calls for Innovation in Agricultural Sector

Lunda-Norte: The governor of Lunda-Norte province, Filomena Miza, on Tuesday urged local agricultural producers to improve production through innovative measures that promote precision agriculture for better quality products with higher market value.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the governor made this recommendation to the new director of the Provincial Office of Agriculture, Farming and Fisheries, Delfin Mussulo, stressing the need to change the scenario in the sector by increasing incentives for producers.

Filomena Miza advised the Office of Agriculture to invest more in the training of farmers and in technical assistance, highlighting the need to pay special attention to the livestock sector to increase meat production in the province and reduce imports.

The governor recalled that the livestock sector has promising indicators, as the province currently has 35,000 cattle, 19,334 goats, 13,000 pigs and sheep, and 56,176 poultry for reproduction and meat production.

"We must be committed and determined to build a better future with entrepreneurs, dynamic and robust companies, civil organizations and NGOs, taking advantage of our economic potential and our natural resources," said the governor.
