General Commander Inspects Border Security in Lunda-Norte

Lunda-Norte: The general commander of the National Police, Francisco Ribas, commenced a two-day visit to the province of Lunda-Norte on Tuesday to inspect the security of the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The focus of his visit is to evaluate the border security measures in place and to ensure proper management of the border areas.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the commissioner is scheduled to visit the Chissanda and Furtuna border crossings. These visits are aimed at assessing the working conditions and readiness of the Border Guard Police units stationed there. The evaluation will help in understanding the current state of affairs and identifying areas that require improvements.

During his stay in Lunda-Norte, Francisco Ribas will also examine the public security situation, focusing on the state of complement of the forces and available resources. This assessment is critical in ensuring that the region is adequately prepared to handle any security challenges.

Before embarking on his inspection tours, the commander held discussions with the governor of Lunda-Norte, Filomena Miza. The meeting covered various issues including public security, illegal immigration, fuel smuggling, and the vandalization of public property. These discussions are expected to guide the commander in addressing key security issues during his visit.
