Nayala: The Governor of Boucle du Mouhoun promises support to the internally displaced population of Gorgar©. The governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, Babou Pierre Bassinga, visited internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the village of Gorgar©, in the commune of Kiembara, Sourou province, on Friday, promising them decent living conditions and support for their return to their homelands.
According to Burkina Information Agency, more than 1,500 people, or around 200 households, left the village of Gorgar© in the commune of Kiembara to find refuge in Toma in the province of Nayala. The governor of Boucle du Mouhoun, Babou Pierre Bassinga, accompanied by the provincial authorities of Nayala, met with these internally displaced persons in Toma, promising them decent living conditions and support to enable their return to their villages of origin.
Both sites, the Reading and Cultural Activities Centre and the Toma multi-purpose hall housing displaced populations from Gorgar©, all appear unsuitable with the start of the rainy season. The governor went to see if the Gnad´r´ stadium in Toma was viable for housing these internally displaced persons.
On site, Mr. Bassinga instructed the president of the special delegation of the commune of Toma, Zackaria Sawadogo, to rehabilitate or build latrines in the coming weeks. The head of the Boucle du Mouhoun region also expressed the government's desire to facilitate the reintegration of these displaced populations and to ensure their safety, particularly for students in their final year of high school.
