Head of State proposes 24 August for poll day

Luanda – President João Lourenço, this Friday at the Council of the Republic meeting that is taking place in the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, suggested the date of 24 August for the holding of the general elections.

The Head of State made such proposal in the opening of the Fourth Ordinary Meeting of the Council of the Republic.

This consultative organ of the Head of State is made up of the leaders of political parties and coalitions represented in parliament, the presiding-judges of the higher courts, the Speaker of the National Assembly (parliament), religious and civil society personalities, as well as members of the society appointed by the Head of State.
