Luanda: The Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta, arrived on Monday morning in Cazombo, a municipality in Moxico Leste province, to assess and identify the priority needs within the health sector of the region. She was welcomed by Mário Maluja, the Deputy Governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure, with whom she held an introductory meeting. According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister's visit focuses on understanding the current status of structural health projects aimed at enhancing the capacity of health services in Moxico Leste. A significant part of her agenda includes a site visit to the planned Cazombo General Hospital, which is considered a key infrastructure for boosting medical and hospital support in the province. In addition to this, Minister Lutucuta will inspect the construction progress of the Cazombo Field Hospital. She is also scheduled to hold a working meeting with local government officials to examine various aspects of the health sector, including the conditions of health units, the availability of human resources, and the stock of medicines. Two major projects have been earmarked for the Moxico Leste province under the National Health System Expansion and Improvement Programme. These projects, part of the Public Investment Programme (PIP) portfolio, involve the construction and equipping of Cazombo General Hospital and the development of support facilities for the Cazombo Field Hospital. This visit is part of broader efforts by the Executive to expand, modernize, and strengthen the national health network, aiming to make health services more accessible to the population and boost the National Health System's response capabilities. Following her activities in Moxico Leste, Minister Lutucuta and her delegation will proceed to Cunene province to continue their monitoring mission, which aligns with the new Political-Administrative Division. Accompanying the minister are several key officials, including the Secretary of State for Public Health, Carlos de Sousa, and other repres entatives from the Ministry of Health.
