Luanda – The minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, highlighted this Saturday the adaptability and heroism of health professionals in this period of resistance and resilience that put humanism, solidarity and competence to the test.
In a message addressed to staff in the sector, within the scope of the National Health Worker’s Day (25), the minister recalls that the country is experiencing the greatest challenge, with the Covid-19 pandemic severely affecting families, society and the Angolan economy.
“However, the transmission of Covid-19 will only be effectively controlled with the active, organized and sustained participation of the entire society and families, aiming to reduce the risk of spreading the disease, so obviously counting on front line staff, namely the health workers for their resilience, for their common effort and for the humanitarian sense with which they carry out their duties”, she emphasized.
After paying tribute to deceased workers and bereaved families, the minister highlighted the professionals who, even having been affected by the disease, show remarkable resilience and remain firm in the face of risk and challenges so that the provision of humanized health services is not affected in its quality and dimension, inspiring for new energies, in pursuit of the fundamental objective: saving lives.
According to the minister, the vaccination process against Covid-19 gives renewed confidence to support the national effort to end the pandemic, for the beginning of a sustained social and economic recovery, guaranteeing new generations a fairer, more prosperous country and more modern.
Sílvia Lutucuta emphasized also the importance of the implementation by all health units and institutions of measures to improve the safety of workers and all persons seeking services, with particular emphasis on measures that promote and implement zero tolerance to violence against health professionals and promote their psychological well-being.
The minister reaffirms the commitment of the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Angolan Government to improving working conditions and safety, as well as valuing all health workers.
