Cabinda – The Hemodialysis Center of Cabinda received, this Friday, three vehicles to support the mobility of the forty (40) patients assisted in the health facility.
The vehicles are two Toyota Hiace brand and an ambulance given by the provincial government to overcome the current constraints, as several patients are unable to keep up with the dialysis sessions due to economic issues to support the transport expenses.
Opened in May 2021, the center took over the treatment and care of these patients who previously sought these services in the country’s capital and in Benguela, including in neighboring countries, with high costs in terms of stays and distance from their families.
The center currently has 42 monitors, including the one installed at the Provincial Hospital of Cabinda (HPC), to assist in critical situations that may eventually occur in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of that hospital.
It also has a lab and sterilization services, five dialysis rooms, a procedure room, an electro medicine room, for the maintenance and replacement of machines, and areas for the treatment of hospital waste, in addition to having a specific area for assist Covid-19 patients.
Patients with chronic kidney disease are aged between 16 and 72 years, with fourteen (14) females and 26 males receiving treatment without discrimination, three (3) times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).
The Hemodialysis Center in Cabinda came to provide a better quality of life and grant the patients longevity.
The main cause of chronic renal failure in Cabinda is high blood pressure, which ends up causing damage to the kidneys and other organs, such as the heart, brain, eyes and the great aortic vessels.
