Home Affairs Minister Advocates Enhanced Support for Angola’s Fire Service Personnel

Luanda: The Angolan Minister of the Interior, Manuel Homem, has called for increased support and recognition for the staff of the Civil Protection and Fire Services (SPCB). This initiative involves ongoing training and improving the social conditions of the personnel within the service.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Minister emphasized the government's commitment to addressing existing issues within the SPCB, particularly concerning the promotion and graduation of staff members. The Ministry of the Interior is actively working on tasks related to the remuneration status of its various bodies, aiming to better align with the needs of the SPCB personnel.

The Minister also highlighted that efforts are underway to procure technical and operational resources, along with personal protection materials and infrastructure upgrades. These improvements are particularly focused on enhancing provincial and municipal fire stations. In addressing the recently promoted employees, Manuel Homem urged them to maintain their dedication to saving lives, a core value that underpins their work and ensures the protection of citizens' fundamental rights.

Minister Homem also underscored the importance of activities that fortify the SPCB's operations. As part of this initiative, he appointed and promoted several key figures within the fire service. Marcelino Cari§o Andr© Pintinho was named the deputy fire commissioner, with chief fire superintendents Benvindo Miala Mateus, Irene Raquel Galiano Novais, Faustino Chitembo Minguªs, Sandra Marisa de Sousa Alcochete, Wilson Leandro Chitembo Baptista, and F©lix Luciano Domingos also receiving promotions. Additionally, Quintino Graciano and Zito Magalhes Castro were appointed as fire commissioner and deputy fire commissioner, respectively.

The SPCB, under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior, plays a crucial role in Angola's Defense and Security System. Its mission encompasses civil defense, fire prevention and fighting, search and rescue operations, and other public assistance activities aimed at mitigating various calamities across the country.
