Minister Urges Private Sector to Accelerate Health Industrialization in Angola

Luanda: The Minister of Health, Slvia Lutucuta, called on Friday for the reinforcement of private investments in the industrialization of the health sector, particularly in the pharmaceutical area. Speaking at a Gala organized by the Angolan company Saºde Prime, the minister emphasized the strategic role that private operators play in the National Health Service. She underscored the necessity of strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors, urging partners to contribute to expediting the national industrialization process.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Minister Lutucuta highlighted the need for domestic production of medical equipment and medicines, envisioning significant advancements in pharmaceutical production and medical equipment manufacturing by 2026. She also stressed the importance of training staff, inviting private sector involvement in this process. She acknowledged companies like Saºde Prime for their exemplary contributions to the development of the health system in Angola.

During the event, presentations were made on media sterilization rooms, operating theaters, electro-medicine, and laboratories. In his address, Saºde Prime's director, Samir Ismael, noted the company's consolidation in various surgical and clinical specialties over its eight-year presence in the Angolan market. He emphasized their approach of forming strategic partnerships with stakeholders in the health sector.

Ismael further highlighted training as the cornerstone of Saºde Prime's activities, with the company having trained between 300 and 400 national professionals in fields such as cardiac surgery, nursing, ophthalmology, and experimental surgery by 2025. He stressed that while selling products is an objective, the priority remains to qualify users, ensuring the correct use of provided equipment and technologies.

In the social domain, Ismael revealed plans to launch a foundation in 2026, focusing on early child development and maternal and child health, while reinforcing partnerships with entities like the Vangulula Foundation, which currently supports hundreds of women monthly. Addressing the government's aim for domestic medicine production, he stated that Saºde Prime aligns with this goal and plans to enter the industrial area within the next two to three years despite challenges related to customs tariffs and financing.

With a comprehensive portfolio and logistical capabilities reaching numerous hospital institutions nationwide, Saºde Prime represents several brands in cardiology, sterilization, intensive care units, ophthalmology laboratories, and surgery. The event also featured a performance by singer Yola Semedo.
