Huambo Livestock Auction Generates Record 190 Million Kwanzas

Huambo:The third annual Huambo Livestock Auction achieved a record-breaking 190 million kwanzas in sales on Saturday, surpassing the previous year's total of 153 million kwanzas. All 96 lots available at the auction, supplied by 22 domestic farms, were successfully sold. According to Angola Press News Agency, the livestock auction included cattle, goats, horses, poultry, and fish from breeders across ten provinces: Huambo, Benguela, Bié, Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul, Cunene, Huíla, Icolo e Bengo, Luanda, and Namibe. Event spokesperson Alcino Manuel Sayengue reported that the auction's success was marked by strong demand from both local commercial enterprises and individual livestock breeders. The auction's highest-priced individual lot reached 11 million kwanzas, reflecting the robust participation and keen interest from agricultural industry operators. Sayengue also noted the importance of institutional partnerships with the Veterinary Research Institute and local Veterinary Services, which have been instrumen tal in enhancing the region's agricultural value chain. Despite the overall success, Sayengue mentioned that some operational constraints posed challenges, temporarily limiting the participation of certain commercial entities that could have contributed further to the auction's success. The event was part of a broader Agricultural Fair, held in conjunction with Expo-Huambo, aimed at fostering business opportunities and strengthening the economic viability of the agricultural sector in Huambo province.
