Luanda: The Governor of Hula Province, Nuno Mahapi, on Monday highlighted in Lubango the selfless dedication of MP Fernanda Filomena dos Santos to youth associations and her commitment to public service for the benefit of citizens.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Fernanda Filomena dos Santos died last Saturday at the Dr Ant³nio Agostinho Neto Central Hospital in Lubango as a result of illness. In a condolence message sent to ANGOP, the governor said the parliamentarian had embraced the cause of associations from an early age and, in the exercise of her duties as a member of the National Assembly, had contributed to the country's political and institutional life.
He recalled that Fernanda Filomena dos Santos had participated in the review and approval of legislation and defended the interests of the population, with particular attention to the concerns and aspirations of the people of Hula. 'Her intervention for the common good constituted a legacy worthy of recognition and respect. Therefore, in this moment of profound pain, mourning and discouragement, we join in the grief of her family, friends and colleagues over such an unexpected and irreparable loss,' the message reads.
The message states that the Government of Hula paid tribute to the memory of a young woman whose dedication, determination and spirit of public service will remain an example for those who pursue the noble mission of serving the province.
Born in October 1980, Fernanda Filomena dos Santos took office as a parliamentarian on 16 September 2022 and was a member of the 6th Committee on Health, Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology. She held a master's degree in Portuguese Language Teaching Methodology and was a teacher by profession. She served as director of Primary School No. 53 in the municipality of Lubango.
