Luanda: Angola's Ambassador to Ghana, Rui Orlando Xavier, on Monday received the Crown Prince of the Ashanti Kingdom, Oheneba Nana Kwaku Duah, in Accra, where they discussed matters of mutual interest and Angola's participation in a ministerial forum on mineral resources.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting also served to seek confirmation of the participation of Angola's Minister of Mineral Resources and Petroleum in the Ministerial Forum and Round Table scheduled to take place in Accra from 19 to 21 October. Organised under the 'Mining in Motion' initiative, the event is expected to bring together government officials, experts, and other stakeholders from the mineral resources sector.
The ambassador also discussed the possibility of a courtesy audience with the King of Ashanti and requested the Crown Prince's support in facilitating the meeting. In addition to being Crown Prince, Oheneba Nana Kwaku Duah serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Ashanti Green Initiative.
Located in present-day Ghana, the Ashanti Kingdom is a traditional monarchy integrated into the Ghanaian state. The former Ashanti Empire was one of the leading political and military powers in West Africa, particularly during the 18th and 19th centuries.
The meeting took place at the premises of the Embassy of Angola in Ghana, in Accra.
