ICRA and 4 de Abril College Triumph in Africa Day Literature and Arts Contest

Matala: The Secondary Magisterium of the Institute of Religious Sciences of Angola (ICRA) and 4 de Abril college emerged victorious in the Africa Day Literature and Arts contest, scoring 326 and 215 points for the 2nd and 1st cycle, respectively. The contest featured categories such as poetry, dance, debate, parade, singing, and theater as part of the celebrations for Africa Day.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the event was organized by the Municipal Administration of Matala and took place from May 22 to 25. It aimed to celebrate the 'Dark Continent' and was marked by various artistic performances, including African costumes that highlighted the students' talent and elegance.

The event encouraged participants and school managers to foster the cultural values of Africanity. Alfredo Miguel, head of ICRA, commended the Administration's initiative for creating opportunities for expression, recognition, and exchange of experiences. He noted that the event stimulated creativity, technique, and innovation while promoting artistic education and the appreciation of cultural heritage.

Isa­as Cambinda, the municipal director of Education, positively evaluated the activities conducted during the Literature and Arts Days. He highlighted the exhibition of books and artistic pieces, along with the competitions, as significant achievements.

The Municipal Administration of Matala launched the first Literature and Arts Days to celebrate Africa Day on May 25 and to promote local writing talents, with a focus on those who highlight local potential.

This is an event that was held for the first time with the aim of making known the importance of literature and the arts, identifying potential talents, demonstrating writing skills, showing the potential of the municipality in various sectors of development, preserving and valuing the arts.
