ISIE participates in regional conference in Tripoli on increasing women’s electoral participation

President of the Independent High Authority for the Elections (French: ISIE) Farouk Bouaskar, on Sunday, participated in a regional conference held in Tripoli, Libya on “Enhancing Women’s Participation in Elections: Mechanisms and Solutions”. The event is organised by Libya’s High National Election Commission in partnership with the Arab Network for Women in Elections and the Libyan Women’s Union.

Bouasker, who led the ISIE delegation to the event, chaired a debate on “the Role of electoral administrations and bodies as well as the civil society in consolidating women’s participation in the elections”, reads a press release of ISIE.

He laid emphasis in his remarks on the best practices at the legislative level and in the internal management of electoral bodies so as to enable women to fulfill their political rights and participate in public life, in total freedom freedom, independence and equality with men.
