João Lourenço informed about summit on terrorism in Africa

Luanda – Matters related to the preparation of the Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Governments in Africa were at the centre of this Wednesday’s meeting between Angolan President João Lourenço and the African Union (AU) Commission Chief, Moussa Faki Mahamat.

The information was given by the AU boss this Wednesday, in the end of an audience granted to him by the Angolan Head of State. The AU official said, on the occasion, that terrorism has been taking alarming proportions in Africa.

According to Moussa Faki Mahamat, the phenomenon has been expanding throughout the African continent, so there is urgent need to find solutions to overcome the situation.

The Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Governments in Africa is slated to happen this May 26 and 28 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

This gathering of African leaders, which is to take place under the umbrella of the African Union (A.U), was proposed by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, during last February’s AU meeting held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
