Luanda – Angolan swimmers Henrique Mascarenhas and Salvador Gordo set, this Sunday, an absolute national record in the 100 m freestyle and butterfly, respectively, with times of 52.82 and 54.73.

Living in England, Mascarenha reached the record in the national championship, while Salvador Gordo did it at the Meeting International in Stockholm, Sweden.

The previous record in the 100 m freestyle was 52:96, timed by Pedro Pinotes, in 2011.

The two are part of the “path” of the best national swimmers working abroad, in a list that includes, among others, Daniel Francisco, Mário Ervedosa, Catarina Sousa, Maria Freitas, Pinotes and Lia Lima.
