Luanda – Angola’s minister of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women Ana Sacramento Neto appealed on Monday for the engagement and commitment of the sectors and social partners to the implementation of the fundamental rights of the most vulnerable groups.
The call was launched at the opening ceremony of the Second Ordinary Meeting of the National Council for Social Action (CNAS), aimed to ensure the necessary articulation among the various bodies that intervene in the social field.
The event is also meant to mobilise combined effort for the protection of children’s rights, through the 11 commitments, and protection of the family, the elderly, the disabled, minority communities and women.
The official drew the attention of the counselors so that the tasks of each sector are coordinated as a platform to respond to the needs of the target groups of action.
The CNAS is a social consultation, monitoring, inspection and evaluation body of public policies for the promotion and defence of the rights of groups particularly susceptible to vulnerability.
The council holds its ordinary plenary session every four months.
It comprises all the Auxiliary Ministerial Departments of the Holder of the Executive Power, with the exception of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Trade and Industry, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing, Transport and Secretariat of Cabinet Council.
CNAS also includes the Secretariat for Social Affairs of the President of the Republic, the Economic and Social Advisory Board of the Vice-President of the Republic, the National Institutes for Children (INAC), the Fight against Drugs, the Fight against AIDS and Statistics, as well as the Social Support Fund.
