Minister Expresses Sorrow Over Death of Veteran Journalist Manuel da Concei§o

Luanda: The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Media, Mario Oliveira, expressed sorrow and dismay on Tuesday at the death of Manuel Luis Fernando da Concei§o, a journalist from Angolan Public Television (TPA). Concei§o passed away on Tuesday due to an illness.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister highlighted the journalist's impressive professional career and his contribution to the history of television in Angola. Concei§o held significant roles in programs such as Telejornal and Jornal da Noite and served as Head of Content at TPA Luanda. His dedication to his profession contributed to the organization, affirmation, and social relevance of TPA both inside and outside Angola. This dedication led to him being honored by President Joo Louren§o in the Peace and Development category during the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence.

Mario Oliveira noted that Concei§o, as a reporter, covered major media events in Angola's recent history. These included the signing of the Bicesse and Lusaka agreements and the first multi-party general elections.

In his statement, the minister extended his deepest condolences to TPA employees, former colleagues, family, and professionals in the sector.

Born in Benguela on February 22, 1959, Manuel Luis Fernando da Concei§o began his career with TPA in July 1990 as a journalist on the program "A Capital".
