Minister of Transport visits UAE

Luanda – Angolan minister of Transport Ricardo Viegas D’Abreu is leading a delegation from his department to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), ANGOP has learnt.

The visiting delegation is holding contacts with government and business entities, as part of the memoranda of understanding signed at the end of 2021, during the visit of the President of Republic, João Lourenço, to that country.

The agenda also cover several meetings, including with “Abu Dhabi Airports and Ports”, aimed at ensuring the implementation of the documents signed last year between the Government of Angola and the United Arab Emirates.

The memoranda signed were those on cooperation and exploration of opportunities in the most varied sectors and another for cooperation in the Transport Sector.

“We are on the right track. We have a strategic partnership with business entities, but also with the Government of the United Arab Emirates in the maritime, land and air sectors. We think they are useful and important partnerships that contribute to our development”, said the minister Ricardo D´Abreu at the end of the meeting with the Angolan ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Albino Malungo, which took place Thursday.

ANGOP also learnt of the implementation of the Logistic Single Window (JUL), as part the strategic cooperation agreements between Abu Dhabi Ports and the Regulatory Agency for Cargo and Logistics Certification in Angola (ARCCLA).

The minister also said Angola will gather experiences in terms of management, due to the entry into operation of the new Abu Dhabi International Airport, which, according to minister Ricardo D´Abreu, will be an opportunity for the country, taking into account the resourcefulness of the New International Airport “Dr. António Agostinho Neto”, located in Bom Jesus, in Luanda, expected to start operating next year.

Among the projects presented by the Ministry of Transport, include Caio Port/Cabinda, Barra do Dande, Luvo project, Logistic Platform of Caála and Railway linking Angola to other countries of the region, as well as the training of Angolan staff in the field of maritime transport, goods, logistics.
