Minister praises dedication of Angolan builders

Luanda – Angolan minister for Public Works, Urbanism and Housing Carlos Alberto dos Santos praised the dedication and role of Angolan builders in laying the foundations for the country’s development.

The praise is expressed in a message, ahead of the Angolan Builders’ Day, celebrated Saturday (3/12).

The minister recognised the performance of contractors, planners, inspectors, artisans, professional associations and other social partners that are involved in the mission to improve cities, urban mobility and infrastructures in the country.

“On this day when we celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Angolan Builders’ Day, it is the opportune moment to honour the precursors of this date and send a message of comfort and recognition to the professionals involved in building an increasingly modern country,” he stressed.

The minister said that the challenges of guaranteeing decent housing for Angolans and construction of public infrastructures that stimulate the country’s development and harmonious economic growth required joint efforts by public and private entities, with a view to keeping the sector amongst those generating most jobs and boosting the economy.

The Angolan Builders’ Day, celebrated on 3 December, was instituted in 1977 by the then President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, to pay tribute to the professionals in civil construction and public works.
