Mbanza kongo: Angolan Minister of Territorial Administration Daniel F©lix Neto urged social stakeholders on Wednesday in Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province, to intensify efforts to mobilize potential voters to visit the One-Stop Public Service Counters (BUAPs).
According to Angola Press News Agency, the official made these remarks at the end of a brief visit to Zaire province, where he assessed the progress of the unofficial voter registration drive. He expressed satisfaction with the process's progress in the regions visited so far. Neto emphasized the need for greater interaction between those operating the voter registration process and citizens of voting age, coupled with the dissemination of information in remote areas.
The minister acknowledged that, despite a few isolated issues, the voter data update process is proceeding smoothly across the country. He noted that the process is currently focused on refining the skills of registration teams in preparation for the second phase, which involves opening additional BUAPs nationwide.
He reported that from the launch of the voter registration process on June 15 to July 6 of this year, more than 260,000 Angolan citizens over the age of 18 had completed the "proof of life" verification nationwide. To bolster the registration efforts, Neto handed over 14 vehicles to support municipal administrations and 24 motorcycles to the registration team members involved in the unofficial voter registration drive.
Prior to his visit to Mbanza Kongo, the minister conducted similar work in Uge province, aiming to foster the same objectives.
