Ministry of Technologies launches cybersecurity campaign

Luanda – The Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS) launched Friday in Luanda a campaign called Ciber Kid (safe Internet for children).

This was during a ceremony, witnessed by ministers of MIINTTICS, Manuel Homem, and Education Ministry (MED), Luísa Grilo, in Luanda.

Speaking at the ceremony, the National Director of Cybersecurity Policies and Digital Services, Hediantro Wilson Mena, said that the project aims to raise awareness among teenagers on security cybernetics matters.

According to him, it is a nationwide project that will cover all schools of the I and II cycle of secondary education in the country.

He said workshops and seminars will be held to incorporate the technical part into practice, aimed to ensure training and education for teenagers on the conscious use of the Internet.

In turn, minister Manuel Homem highlighted the role of the Ministry of Education (MED) in combat the misuse of information technologies.

Manuel Homem stressed the importance of the teachers to provide training to students, not to trust or post personal information on social networks. “It is everyone’s obligation to teach children the correct way to use this important tool.

Cybersecurity should also be everyone’s concern, because we have been following several violent cases on social media,” he said.

Therefore, he continued, the National Cybersecurity Directorate chose the Ministry of Education as a strategic partner for the cybersecurity campaign in schools.

The Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, said that the ministry will continue to embrace these projects, as the future of children depends on the teachers.

“The Ciber Kid project is a very commendable initiative and the Ministry of Education should not be left out, because we know that teachers are the base and they have an obligation to teach the right way”, she stressed.

Luísa Grilo reiterated that the future of any society depends on education, on teachers and currently the internet is one of the most used tools in the world, so MED cannot be overtaken by technology.

Cybersecurity is the protection of computer systems from theft or damage to hardware, software or electronic data, as well as the interruption or disruption of the services they provide.
