Lunda norte: Health authorities in Lunda-Norte Province have successfully immunized 268,583 children up to the age of 5 against polio during a recent expanded vaccination campaign held from the 15th to the 17th of the current month. This achievement surpasses the initially planned target of 267,693 children, as confirmed by Marcelo Waiva, the interim head of the Public Health department.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the campaign achieved 100% coverage across the 19 municipalities of the province. However, it was noted that these results are provisional, as data from the municipalities of Lubalo, Canzar, Cassanje-Calucala, and Luangue have yet to be submitted. The second round of vaccinations is scheduled for the current week, with particular attention on reaching hard-to-reach areas.
The campaign was supported by around 500 teams consisting of vaccinators, supervisors, mobilizers, and logistics technicians. The Ministry of Health has provided 315,150 doses of the vaccine to support both the first and second phases of the vaccination campaign in Lunda-Norte.
