Luena: The provincial governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, has officially declared a day off work for Monday to celebrate the anniversary of the province's separation from the district of Benguela. This marks 108 years since the historic event, commemorated through Decree-Law No. 23365/17 of September 15.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the document, which was accessed this Monday, outlines that the time off will be observed throughout the province. It applies to both the public and private sectors, although employees who work in shifts are not included in this decree. The primary objective of the day off is to enable the entire population to participate in the planned celebratory activities.
The decree is legally supported by No. 2 of Article 201 of the Constitution of the Republic, in conjunction with Article 11 of Law No. 15/16 of September 12 (Law on Local State Administration), No. 3 of article 5 of Law No. 10/11, of 16 February (Law on National and Local Holidays and Dates of National Celebration), among other legal provisions.
