Moxico governor wants strong approach against Covid-19

Luena – The governor of eastern Moxico province, Gonçalves Muandumba, on Wednesday in Luena called for a “forceful” approach in the reinforcement of awareness against Covid-19, in view of the 390 new cases of the omicron variant, registered in the province.

The province recorded in the first four days of 2022, 390 cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, mostly involving men aged between 20 and 29 years.

The provincial department of Public Health attributes the vertiginous increase of cases to the disobedience of prevention methods, namely, the use of face mask, alcohol gel and physical distancing.

For the governor, who was speaking during a meeting with health, political, religious and traditional authorities of the province, the increase of cases should oblige a more forceful approach in the awareness campaigns for the population to comply with the prevention measures.

Recognising the slowdown in the application of biosecurity measures in the region, he said that action should be taken, together with the communities, to avoid the worst.

These efforts in the awareness campaign, according to the governor, aims to encourage compliance with security measures and the adherence of people to vaccination posts.
