MPLA leader announces new professionals for health sector

Cabinda – MPLA leader João Lourenço has announced plans for 24,000 new professionals for health sector, with an average of 8,000 per year, as part of the public tender.

The ruling party president announced this while delivering his speech during a mass rally held in northern Cabinda province on Saturday, as part of his three-day visit to the region.

In his speech, also aimed to launch his party’s pre electoral-campaign in Cabinda, the MPLA leader announced the Executive’s commitment to build a pharmaceutical industry.

The portfolio for the coming years also includes the construction of general hospitals in Benguela, Bailundo (Huambo) and Dundo (Lunda Norte), he said.

In his speech, João Lourenço highlighted, the construction and rehabilitation of 79 reference hospitals, including national, provincial, health centers and posts in the last five years.

According to him, the above units made it possible to make 32,619 inpatient beds available to the population, of which 1,400 were in intensive care units.

The president also highlighted the construction of dialysis centers and centres in all health facilities built from scratch, orthopedic centers and clinical analysis laboratories.

In the last two public tenders, since he took office, João Lourenço reported that the sector hired 33,093 health professionals, including 2,373 physicians.
