MPLA party approves 2022/2027 governance programme

Luanda – The ruling MPLA party approved Thursday its proposal of Governance Programme for the 2022/2027 term and a Strategy Motion to be submitted to vote in the general elections in August.

According to the press release of the second extraordinary meeting of the party’s Central Committee, the Governance Programme proposes to assure sustainable development and improvement of the social conditions of Angolans.

The note of the meeting led by the party leader, João Lourenço, clarifies that the 2022/2027 Governance Programme and MPLA’s Electoral Manifesto outline policy measures that should continue to ensure the sustained socio-economic development of the country and improvement of the quality of life of Angolans.

The MPLA reiterates the great commitments to the aspirations of the people, with particular emphasis on the consolidation of peace and democracy, reform of the State and good governance, harmonious development of the territory and promotion of human capital.

The party’s government programme and electoral manifesto also encompass the sectors of education, health, employment, culture and sports, reduction of social inequalities, fight against hunger and poverty, gender equality, modernization and efficiency of infrastructures, intensification of economic diversification, with predominance for the productive and private sector.

It also ensures the defence of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.

The note indicates that the MPLA 2022-2027 Programme, structured in seven Strategic Axes, and its Electoral Manifesto, composed of three segments, were preceded by a broad work of social dialogue and evaluation of the 2017-2022 governing activity, as well as the absorption of the Leader’s Strategy Motion approved in the VIII Ordinary Congress of the party, held in December 2021.

The Central Committee said it has urged for a massive dissemination of the Government Programme and the Electoral Manifesto among the voters, so that they can understand the profoundness of the proposals presented by the MPLA and its leader, translated into the guarantee of a better future.

The Central Committee mandated the Secretariat of the Political Bureau to ensure necessary adjustments regarding the process for validation of candidacies by the Constitutional Court that lead to final approval of the List of Candidates for MPLA MPs for the General Elections.

It congratulated João Lourenço on being designated Champion of Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, awarded by the African Union, for his commitment to the pacification of the continent.

The Central Committee appealed for an active, joyful and responsible participation in the celebrative activities of the centenary birthday of the Founder of the Nation, Dr. António Agostinho Neto.
