MPLA vice president encourages party militants in Cape Town

Cape Town – MPLA militants in Cape Town (South Africa) were encouraged Sunday to work harder and not to give up.

The words of encouragement came from the vice president of the ruling MPLA party in Angola, Luísa Damião, who urged for the permanent close relationship with all party structures.

“We are here on a mission of service but we reserve a few minutes to be with you and it could not be otherwise”, stressed the MPLA leader.

She stated that it is a rule that every time an MPLA delegation travels to a country, there are meetings with the community and our party members.

Luísa Damião said that the moment also served to thank the Angolan community for participating in the August 24 elections, in which the MPLA won again and deserved the trust of the people.

As you know, she went on, after a partial revision of our Constitution, Angolans in the diaspora also vote, they retrieved their right to vote.

She added that the militants should make their contribution as a way of keeping the party active.

The MPLA secretary in Cape Town, Francisco Damas, said he was pleased with the visit of the vice-president of the ruling party in Angola.

“We raised our concerns, as Angolan and MPLA militants so that our flame stays alive”, he added.

In Cape Town, the MPLA has 604 militants.

Luísa Damião has been in Cape Town to represent the MPLA at the meeting of the African Peer Review Mechanism, in a meeting that starts Monday and ends Tuesday.

The MPLA participates in the meeting as a guest.

Also integrating the delegation Leonel Martins, director of the Office of Vice President; Manuel Figueiredo, director of the Central Committee’s Studies and Analysis Coordination Office; Bernardo Catoto, Head of Division of the Central Committee’s International Relations department.
