MPLA Vice-President Urges Members to Align with Party Strategy

Luanda: MPLA Vice President Mara Quiosa appealed to party members on Tuesday in Luanda to comply with party guidelines, even when the party's strategy does not align with personal interests. Mara Quiosa was speaking at the opening ceremony of a series of conferences in honor of the party's 9th Ordinary Congress, which will take place on December 9 and 10, under the motto "MPLA: Commitment to the People, Confidence in the Future".

According to Angola Press News Agency, the party leader stated that the history, political culture, and mystique of the party cannot be forgotten, nor can differences of opinion be ignored in the name of failing to assume the responsibility of ensuring a strong, united, and disciplined MPLA. The politician praised the members who clearly and unequivocally understand that the interests of the MPLA must always come before individual desires.

Mara Quiosa urged the party supporters to scrupulously respect the party's statutes and regulations in order to close ranks around the party leader, Joo Louren§o, to whom they should show support. The MPLA vice-president considered the conference cycle an important guiding instrument for the implementation of political training activities.

'Therefore, we understand that this plan should be replicated by our intermediate structures, with the necessary adaptations to their respective realities, needs and local specificities, even if, for this, some of the speakers in this conference cycle travel to other provinces,' she emphasized.

Mara Quiosa also instructed the Cadre Policy Department to create the necessary conditions for greater involvement of intermediate structures, considering that political and ideological training constitutes the basis that sustains a strong party. She recalled that 'a militant without training is like a soldier without a weapon,' because they are unprotected, vulnerable and susceptible to defeat.

'The MPLA is great because it has strong members, and strong members tend to be disciplined,' she said. The MPLA vice-president also appealed to party members, supporters, and society in general to register to vote unofficially, so they can participate in the 'great celebration of democracy.
