Mukafé Project to Distribute 2.5 Million Coffee Seedlings in Uíge for 2026/27 Season

Uíge:At least 2.5 million coffee seedlings are set to be distributed to producers in the municipalities of Mucaba and the provincial capital, Uíge, as part of the "Mukafé" project during the 2026/27 agricultural season.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the distribution will include two million Robusta coffee seedlings produced via generative propagation and 500,000 seedlings from vegetative propagation. The seedlings will be provided to 1,200 producers participating in the project.

Ricardo Bacia, the coordinator of the Mukafé project in Uíge, revealed that during the 2025/26 agricultural season, coffee farmers in the initial phase of the project received 100,300 seedlings. He noted that indicators in the target municipalities are promising, with 942 producers currently engaged in training on new coffee production techniques at 17 active field schools.

The project aims to enhance the coffee value chain in Angola by preparing to distribute millions of Robusta coffee seedlings to strengthen plantations and boost local agricultural productivity. The initiative is a collaborative effort with the Angolan government, supported financially by the European Union and the French Development Agency, and in partnership with the National Coffee Institute.
