Namibe Governor Encourages Citizens to Update Voter Registration

Mo§medes: The Namibe governor, Archer Mangueira, urged Angolan citizens today in Mo§medes to update their electoral data to exercise their constitutional right to vote. The governor emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate voter registration as a pivotal step in ensuring that every eligible citizen can participate in the democratic process.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the appeal was made following the launch of the data update process for citizens over 18 years of age who already possess an Identity Card, which is necessary for voter registration. The initiative targets Angolans in the province and across the nation, encouraging them to verify and update their information at the BUAP (Bureau of Electoral Administration and Logistics).

Governor Mangueira stressed that all Angolans over the age of 18 who hold an Identity Card must update their data. "All Angolans over 18 years of age and holders of an Identity Card must prove their continued existence by updating their data at the BUAP," he stated.

The Angolan government has initiated this data update effort with an eye on the forthcoming 2027 electoral processes. This move aims to ensure that the electoral rolls are current and that all eligible voters are equipped to participate in the upcoming elections. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to fostering a robust, participatory democracy in Angola.
