National and Foreign Tourists Expected to Attend Festikongo 2025

Mbanza Kongo: The 2025 edition of the International Festival of Kongo Culture (Festikongo), scheduled for July 5-8, is set to attract both national and foreign tourists, as announced by the provincial governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, in Mbanza Kongo. The announcement came after a meeting with a group of tourists who visited the Historic Centre of Mbanza Kongo over the weekend to explore the town's cultural and historical significance.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the governor expressed satisfaction with the ongoing preparations for this year's Festikongo and anticipates an improved edition compared to previous years. He mentioned that the organizing committee has been actively preparing to ensure the festival meets the expectations of the local population and visitors.

Joo da Costa Louren§o, director-general of the Tourism Agency, assured that efforts are being made to attract tourists and sponsors to ensure the festival's success. He highlighted that Festikongo is gaining attention from domestic and international tourists, as well as investors eager to participate in the event.

Recently, over thirty domestic and foreign tourists visited Mbanza Kongo, the capital of Zaire province. During their visit to the 'Kulumbimbi' land, they were welcomed by Governor Adriano Mendes de Carvalho and explored various monuments and historical sites that contribute to the rich cultural tapestry of Mbanza Kongo. Notably, the Historic Centre of Mbanza Kongo was recognized as a World Heritage Site on July 8, 2017.
