Luanda: The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ado de Almeida, his voter registration on Tuesday at the Single Public Service Desk (BUAP) of the Talatona municipal administration in Luanda. The Speaker appealed to citizens over 18 years of age to fulfill the same civic duty ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Ado de Almeida underscored that updating the voter registration represents the fulfillment of an individual responsibility and an essential step to guarantee the exercise of the right to vote at the appropriate time. The Speaker positively assessed the functioning of the service desk, highlighting the speed, simplicity and technical preparation of the team. He also said the necessary conditions have been created to ensure broad citizen participation in the process.
Ado de Almeida added that, as the update campaign progresses, the services will gain greater dynamism and responsiveness, reinforcing citizens' confidence in the institutions responsible for organizing elections. The politician appealed to the Angolan population, especially citizens over 18 years of age, to update their Unofficial Electoral Register within the established deadlines, stressing that this is yet another moment in which Angola demands the commitment and participation of all in consolidating democracy.
The Angolan government plans to update the voter registration of at least 16 million national citizens over 18 years of age, residing in the country and abroad, in a universe estimated at around 16.7 million voters. The update is being carried out through the "proof of life" system, a mechanism designed to confirm the physical existence of citizens and update their data in the electoral file.
