Luanda: The National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT) and Omatapalo construction company signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at facilitating the construction of a 220 kV high voltage transmission line, enabling electrical interconnection between Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
According to Angola Press News Agency, the document was signed by Rui Gourgel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RNT, along with Mauro Martins, Executive Director of Market Operations at RNT, and two representatives from Omatapalo.
The project is a component of the Angolan Government’s Regional Expansion and Interconnection Program, designed to facilitate the export of national electricity to the international market. Moreover, it will integrate Angola into the electricity markets of the Central African Power Pool (CAPP) and the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).
