Tunis: The Public Prosecutor’s Office in the Ben Arous Court of First Instance launched a judicial investigation into the incident of the national flag covered with a cloth at the Radès Olympic Swimming Pool. 9 suspects are involved in the case, two of them are in pre-trial detention and seven others are at liberty, Spokesperson for the Ben Arous Court of First Instance Sadok Jouini said.
Speaking to TAP, Jouini added that all the suspects appeared, Monday, before the investigating judge on charges related to conspiracy against State security as well as forming alliance with a view to assaulting persons and property and insulting the national flag, under Articles 32, 68, 69, 72, 192, 131 and 132 of the penal code.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of Ben Arous had previously instructed the First Criminal Brigade of the National Guard of Ben Arous to open an investigation into the incident of the flag covered with a cloth, during the 7th Tunisian Open Masters, held by the Tunisian
Swimming Federation, at the Radès Olympic Swimming Pool.
Following this incident, last Friday, The Ministry of Youth and Sports announced the dissolution of the office of the Tunisian Swimming Federation and the designation of a provisional office. It also decided to remove the Director General of the National Anti-Doping Agency and the regional commissioner of Youth and Sports of Ben Arous and replace them with senior executives.
