New hospital stems from good management of public money – president

Cabinda – Angolan head of State João Lourenço said Thursday that the inauguration of the new Cabinda Hospital “proves that public money is being well spent”.

João Lourenço said this to the press after the inauguration of the facility, as part of his three-day visit to the region.

The province gains a large hospital unit, which will certainly benefit the population of this part of the territory physically discontinued from the rest of the country, he said.

The statesman said that the lack of the provision of these health services put the populations with some difficulties, forcing them to seek other services in other places, such as Luanda, even in neighbouring countries.

“This hospital unit comes to solve the health problems in the region, and I hope that its professionals and users give the best possible treatment”, he underlined.

The 200-bed General Hospital of Cabinda will be secured by a total of 771 professionals, of the 1,250 planned workers.

Of this number, 95 are physicians, 42 specialists and 53 interns, 502 nurses, 98 diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, 60 hospital support technicians and 16 from the general regime.

The unit also comprise areas of emergency services, hemodialysis, physiotherapy, imaging, internal medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, delivery and surgery blocks, intensive care and morgue, among others.

The eight-floor building is located in an area of 50,000 square meters.
