Luanda: Secretary of State for Media Nuno Caldas announced the launch of a new public television channel set to open in 2026, with a focus on preserving and showcasing Angola's history, specifically tailored for children.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Caldas acknowledged the current decline in children's and cultural programming. He noted that the modernization of TPA, Angola's public television network, will include efforts to revive these important segments. The initiative aims to enhance the training, education, and preparation of presenters and staff to specialize in content that resonates with young audiences.
Caldas highlighted the establishment of a local content policy as a key priority for the sector. Collaborations with satellite television distributors are underway to gradually increase the presence of local children's programming. This effort underscores the commitment to cultural representation and education through media.
As TPA celebrated its 50th anniversary on October 16, Caldas expressed support for the network's builders and pioneers. He stressed the importance of sustaining and evolving this iconic television brand to meet contemporary needs.
