Luanda: Health Minister Sílvia Lutucuta defended Saturday in Luanda the need to consolidate a more humane, innovative and excellent National Healthcare System for Angolans. The minister made the statement during the III Nursing Conference at the Lucrécia Paim Maternity Hospital under the motto "For Innovative, Humanized, and Excellent Nursing". According to Angola Press News Agency, the event brought together nursing professionals, specialists, and hospital managers from several provinces to share best practices, reflect on the challenges facing the profession, and promote increasingly safe, empathetic, and technically qualified maternal and neonatal care. The Health Minister emphasized that nursing is the true foundation of the healthcare system, present at all stages of life, from prevention to rehabilitation, and playing a crucial role in the relationship between healthcare services and communities. She reiterated that the transformation of the Angolan healthcare system necessarily involves valuing nursi ng and investing in innovative and humane practice and emphasized that the events symbolize the country's commitment to building a system that is closer to people and better adapted to their real needs. She also framed the event within the context of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, highlighting nursing's historic contribution to the sector's development. "These events take on profound significance and represent a moment of great importance for the healthcare sector, especially at this symbolic moment in our history," said the minister. Recognizing the dedication of nursing professionals, the minister praised their role on the front lines, providing dedicated care, protecting lives, and daily renewing hope for thousands of Angolans. During the two days of work, participants discussed topics related to nursing innovation, humanization of services, professional ethics, and technical excellence, with an emphasis on maternal and child health.
